Who we are

Samurai Website (samuraiswordkeyring.com) is an independent publisher of educational guides about Japan's warrior class. Our knowledge base at /learn covers foundations, historical periods, society, warfare, weapons and armor, culture, philosophy, and modern legacy.

The same site offers miniature samurai sword keyrings as gifts. Product pages and educational guides are separate: articles are written to teach, not to upsell history for its own sake.

Editorial approach

Guides are produced by our editorial team for curious general readers—not as peer-reviewed academic monographs. We aim to:

• Lead with clear definitions and period context
• Separate myth, film, and game tropes from archival and scholarly consensus
• Use Japanese terms with plain-English glosses where they matter
• Link related topics so readers can build a coherent map of the field
• Cite encyclopedias, museums, and primary-text editions alongside general references

Each learn article shows a last-reviewed date and a sources list. We revise pages when scholarship, exhibitions, or reader feedback shows a better framing.

What we are not

We are not a university press, museum, or martial-arts governing body. We do not claim lineage authority in any ryū. Sensitive topics (ritual death, wartime ideology, weapons) are framed historically and legally—not as instruction.
